Modernist office building showcases
Grupa's iconic designs
In a striking fusion of contemporary architecture and natural surroundings, a new office building developed for a construction company based just outside of Zagreb exemplifies modern design principles while maintaining harmony with the rolling landscape around it.
Designed by the Mikelić Vreš Arhitekti (MVA) bureau, the building, named Horizontal HQ, is located in Dubrovcan, a tiny town some 25 km north of Zagreb. The building's design emphasizes clean lines, open spaces, and an organic connection to its environment.
A key highlight of the office interiors is the extensive use of Grupa’s designer pieces, which add elegance and versatility to the space. Our modular pendant lamps ILI ILI hang gracefully from the ceilings, offering both functional lighting and sculptural beauty. Their sleek, minimalist design perfectly complements the modernist aesthetic of the building.
Grupa-designed Monk chairs, produced by Prostoria, were chosen to complement the interior, and are placed throughout office spaces and meeting rooms. The chairs’ clean lines and sophisticated materials contribute to a cohesive and refined interior design.
We are proud to see that Grupa’s pendant lamps and chairs play such a vital role in shaping the building’s sophisticated interiors, reinforcing the company's commitment to beauty and functionality. As a flagship project for a small but ambitious construction company, this building demonstrates how thoughtful design can inspire, elevate, and integrate seamlessly with its surroundings.
The project received recognition as a nominee for the 2024 Piranesi Prize, a prestigious regional architecture award for best projects in eleven Central and Eastern European countries, as one of Croatia’s five entries.
