Ipša

Interior design, 2021

Ipša is a small family-owned olive oil and wine-making business hidden in the sunny hills of Istria in western Croatia which asked us to design their tasting and retail space where visitors could enjoy and buy their products.

Our concept for their winery space was inspired heavily by the shapes and colours of the surrounding area, located in the world's premier micro-region for making quality olive oil. This meant that we used lots of natural earth colours in designing the space, complemented by bespoke furniture pieces made out of organic materials such as wood.

For ambient lighting we created bespoke wall-mounted metal lamps, with abstract-shaped shades reminiscent of what plots of land in an Istrian olive grove typically look like from a bird’s-eye view. We also designed the customised display shelves, tables, and spotlight lamps, and combined these with some of Grupa’s pre-existing designs, including Arigato lamps and Brida chairs. The end result was a rustic yet modern space which matched the authentic quality of the client’s products.
