Furniture collection and art design for Artisan, 2007
The Basic collection represents Grupa’s very first foray into furniture design back in 2007. The collection, created in collaboration with the Bosnian design furniture company Artisan, consists of a line of solid wood pieces.
The collection involved a table, a chair, a chest of drawers, an armchair, and a cube-shaped low table. An early project that we are very proud of, the Basic collection was not only a landmark for us and our development as designers, but also broke new ground as one of the very first instances of local manufacturers and designers teaming up in this part of Europe.
Since Artisan is a company specialising in solid wood furniture, our design process primarily focused on emphasizing the natural beauty and textures of the material itself. In doing so, we strived to create pieces which would be versatile enough to adapt to any type of interior and each of which would be capable of functioning as either a centrepiece or a supporting element in any given space.
Grupa was also tasked with the art direction and styling of all the promotional material for the collection, which also made this a pioneering project, as this meant that virtually all aspects of the design and branding were made in close collaboration between the manufacturer and the designers, an achievement recognized and praised by local design critics and mainstream media.
